Rainwater Harvesting Systems
The basic components of our rainwater harvesting systems are composed of pumps, leaf filters, first flush devices and municipal water backup devices to increase the functionality and water savings from your tank by connecting to your landscape irrigation, laundry, toilets and faucets.
A rainwater harvesting system that is connected to both internal and external fittings on a new home or building provides significant water savings. When coupled with a municipal water back-up system, ensuring an uninterrupted supply, the rainwater within the tank is continually being drawn-down, gaining maximum use from the tank.
Benefits to Land Developers
Rainwater Harvesting can present significant benefits for land developers, providing a reduction in stormwater runoff from impervious surfaces. The reduced stormwater runoff can result in benefits such as;
- Reduced stormwater pipe quantities leading to reduced infrastructure costs
- Increased lot yield via a reduced need for constructed wetlands or ponds
- Reduced maintenance of stormwater infrastructure
- Reduced erosion through a reduction of in-stream flow in peak rainfall periods
- Reduced flooding risks
The installation of rainwater harvesting systems can also provide a significant reduction in municipal water usage, resulting in a positive contribution toward alleviating the growing water problems in many areas, through reduced consumption and an increased awareness.
Hybrid Water Management Systems
Integrated systems incorporating attenuation (stormwater) tanks, large capacity drainage channels, lagoons or ponds, porous paving and rain water harvesting are now an essential part of any new development. Geo Force Horizons can assist in the design and implementation of hybrid systems that incorporate a combination of natural and mechanical filtration, retention basins, cisterns, crushed rock and swales and passive rainwater harvesting systems (rain gardens).
Hybrid water systems incorporate elements of natural watershed management and existing water infrastructure. Cooperation with water supply agencies, flood control agencies and sanitation agencies are also key to a systems success resulting in a less power hungry aqueduct.Installation
Implementing rainwater harvesting involves more than simply providing and installing a tank. A complete solution involves co-ordinating and facilitating with developers, builders, designers, local authorities and contractors prior-to, during and after the installation.
Geo Force Horizons is able to assist in managing the entire process.
